Speculative Campaign
The Mission: To design a data-driven lifecycle email campaign and user journey framework that bridges the conversion gap between ALO Yoga apparel and their high-margin skincare categories
The Channels: Segmented email marketing automation, dark/light mode responsive design system, market share data visualization, and end-to-end cart drop-off user flow.
My Role: Creative Strategist, Email Marketing Strategist, & UX Designer. Conducted market share analysis, built user persona profiles, mapped behavioral cart friction, and designed the responsive lifecycle email sequence.
Programs Used: WINMO, Miro, Figma, Canva
Market Analysis & Strategic Framework
Market Gap Identification: Analyzed the $14.35B premium athleisure segment, identifying ALO’s 7.7% market share (1.1B+) against category leader Lululemon (77.4%). While ALO maintains strong apparel affinity, wellness and skincare products suffer from high online discovery drop off.
Strategic Positioning: Shifted thmessaging from standalone skincare advertising to and essential “Post-Studio Recovery Ritual” seamlessly integrated inti post-workout apparel usage.
Persona Matrix & Behavioral User Flow
Target Audience Segmentation:
Fitness Faith (27-32 I Tech/Urban): High-discipline wellness routine; motivated by post-workout recovery ingredients and daily habit loops.
Trend-Hopping Tammy (19-24 I Student/Gen Z): Social proof driven; motivated by influencer endorsements, viral trends, and entry-level luxury status.
Lifestyle Lindsey (55-70 I Executive/Suburbs): Quiet luxury focus; motivated by esthetician validation, skin longevity, and age-inclusive comfort.
Friction Point Mapping: Mapped the behavioral user flow to reveal that high-intent users add skincare (Head-To-Toe Glow Oil) alongside activewear, but delete skincare at checkout due to category hesitation.
Behavioral Insight: The user is highly interested in ALO’s wellness/skincare line (actively adds Glow Oil to her cart), but hesitates at checkout, removing the item to prioritize apparel.
Revenue Opportunity: Rather than treating this as a cold cart abandonment, this represents a warm cross-sell. A validated buyer already trust the brand for activewear, but needs dedicated post purchase education to commit to skincare.
Lifestyle Campaign Architecture & Visual Execution
24-Hour Trigger (“The Ritual”): Recovery habit hook (“The workout is over. Now for the best part.”) focused on cart recovery and routine completion.
Triggered Drip Sequence:
48-Hour Trigger (“Social Proof”): Credibility push (“See why estheticians are obsessed with ALO wellness.”) providing expert authority and validation.
72-Hour Trigger (“Urgency & Incentive”): Time sensitive closing push (“Your recovery ritual is expiring.”) offering free shipping and frictionless return-to-cart CTAs.
Adaptive Design System: Built dual-mode (Light and Dark) email layouts to guarantee native rendering across user screen settings, incorporating dynamic cart counts (“IN 600 CARTS”) and “Complete the Set” cross-sell product grids to increase Average Order Value (AOV).
